Island Destinations’ 2016 Company Retreat: ULTIMATE Costa Rica!

Each year the ID Travel Group explores a new and unique destination for our annual Company Retreat. 2016 brought us to the exotic and beautiful Costa Rica –a country full of lush rolling hills, majestic volcanoes, striking black sand beaches and more!

Our journey began at our IDx hotel, Secrets Papagayo. This all-inclusive, adults-only hideaway is tucked away on the Papagayo Peninsula just 20 minutes from Liberia Airport. While here, The ID Travel Group experienced some of the amazing activites that Costa Rica has to offer.

As Costa Rica is known for its wildlife, our team took off to Palo Verde National Park for a boat tour to get up close and personal with all different kinds of animals –monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas and more! After our excursion, we stopped off to experience an authentic Costa Rican house for a lesson in coffee and tortilla making, followed by a delicious lunch!

The rest of the ID team went on a ziplining adventure at The Congo Trail Canapy Tour where they soared from the tree tops enjoying majestic verdant views and even fed the white-face capuchin monkeys – of course our signature 2016 Traveler’s Collection Brochure went along for the ride!

Also while in the Papagayo area, the ID Team enjoyed the chic ambiance at Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort. This upscale property features modern guest rooms and suites, a gorgeous pool area and mouthwatering culinary options.

ID’s Insight: The tapas restaurant, Chao Pescao is a must try, serving authentic Costa Rican cuisine and innovative cocktails! The on-site mixologist will concoct specialty drinks tailored to your taste, for an excellent addition to a memorable meal.

Next stop was the Guanacaste area and Dreams Las Mareas, AM Resort’s new luxury all-inclusive resort complete with 17 pools, a blissful spa, endless dining options and plenty of activities for couples and families alike!

While in this area, a day trip to nearby Nicaragua should not be missed! Our favorite experiences were the active Masaya Volcano, Lake Nicaragua and lunch in the quaint town of Granada, where we tried an authentic Nicaraguan meal.

After exploring Dreams Las Mareas and Guanacaste, the team experienced the Arenal region of Costa Rica at Nayara Springs and Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort – a three hour scenic ride from Guanacaste.

Nayara Springs is an adults-only, boutique hotel located in the Arenal Volcano National Park. Surrounded by the lush rainforest and equipped with stunning views of the mountains, Nayara is a luxurious getaway surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.

ID’s Insight: After dinner, head over to Nostalgia Wine & Tapas Bar where you can enjoy a tasting of world-class wine and enhance your knowledge of the different varieties. The warm and inviting atmosphere makes this a great place to relax and enjoy some speciality flights.

In addition to Guanacaste and Arenal, the last part of the ID team made their way to Hacienda AltaGracia, one of the Auberge collection’s newest resorts set admidst the Costa Rican mountain tops. This boutique resort is home to gourmet dining and nature activities including ID’s favorite – horseback riding at the state of the art facilities!

ID’s Insight: As the largest spa in Central America, a treatment here is a must! Perfectly designed with a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, this posh spa is the perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure. The indoor pool area features 3 out of the 4 walls made of glass – perfect for gazing at the panoramic views of the mountains.

Non-stop adventures, delectible cuisine, authentic cultural activities and unforgettable wildlife make Costa Rica the perfect place for couples and families alike. Want to hear more? Contact your Ultimate Costa Rica Experts today…
