Spotlight on St. Lucia. . .

First Stop… Capella Marigot Bay!

Our COO, Laurie Palumbo recently had the opportunity to experience the newly refurbished Capella Marigot Bay, situated on the North Western side of St. Lucia for a quick three day trip on the lush volcanic island.

Aside from the recently refreshed accommodations, sleek poolside dining and peaceful marina vistas – here are some of her favorite experiences from her short escape:

Evening in the Capella Rum Cave:

Laurie quickly discovered that rum is not just delicious in fruity Caribbean cocktails, but is actually quite nice for sipping – and what a perfect ambiance to learn which type she enjoys best! Guests can indulge in this private rum tasting experience with the property’s Rum Connoisseur, Isaac Novoa, (pictured below) that will take you on a tasting journey to experience rums of varying ages.

ID’s Insight: Create your own blend of St. Lucian rum with Capella’s Rum Connoisseur that the property will age and ship back for you to experience a taste of St. Lucia after the holiday is over – with two Waterford Crystal glasses!

Private Boat Ride Experience:

Laurie and her husband also had a memorable experience with General Manager, Geroen Quint and Director of Sales, Michelle McConalogue while soaking up the sun and enjoying the St. Lucian breezes on an afternoon boat ride. While sailing through the emerald waters, lunch was served in “luxury-picnic” fashion where the intimate group enjoyed wine, cheeses, sandwiches and more. A perfect luxury experience!

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort:

Although the next stop was far too quick, Laurie loved her afternoon at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort – the only hotel on the island with sugar-white sands accompanied by a sexy Viceroy ambiance, majestically nestled between the Pitons. Pictured below is General Manager, André Boersma and Molly McDaniel Director of Public Relations.

Of course, an afternoon at Sugar Beach would not be complete without a signature spa treatment at the Rainforest Spa! This unique tree house spa truly is one of the Caribbean’s hidden treasures. Most spa experiences can be defined as relaxing, but there is just something about being in your own private tree house treatment room with the sounds of native birds and the peaceful hum of the rainforest, luring you to sheer bliss. It’s no wonder why the property received our 2015 Island Destinations’ Ultimate Spa Award!

Last Stop, Ladera!

On the last leg of Laurie’s St. Lucian travels, she had the opportunity to spend time at Ladera, a rustic-romantic Caribbean escape with breathtaking vistas of the famed Piton Mountains. Views at this hotel were memorable, and the new three-walled Paradise Ridge accommodations are a very spacious option for those looking for a private retreat. All suites are brightly furnished with tropical hardwoods, crafted by local artisans providing a unique authentic feel.  “VP of Marketing, Olivier Bottois, has really elevated the property to the next level and has implemented some fantastic changes,” Laurie mentioned.

Laurie’s favorite memory at Ladera? Aside from the majestic sight of rainbows overlooking the Pitons, the nightly live entertainment seemed to create the perfect ambiance for an evening cocktail overlooking a breathtaking sunset.
